FAQ

Everything you need to know about ordering glasses, insurance, shipping, and returns at Masters Optical.

1. Glasses and Frames

What is the difference between sunglasses and "frames-only" products?

Our sunglasses come with lenses pre-installed—the specific lens type (e.g., polarized, gradient, bifocal, or UV-protective) depends on the style. "Frames-only" products (listed under the "Frames" category) are frames sold without lenses. You can take them to any optical shop or lab to have prescription or non-prescription lenses fitted. "Frames-only" products are clearly marked on their respective product pages.

2. How do I choose the right frame size?

Each product page includes a size chart listing lens width and recommended face shapes:

- S (Small): Lens width 40–50 mm — Suitable for narrow or small faces

- M (Medium): Lens width 49–56 mm — Suitable for most standard face shapes

- L (Large): Lens width 54–62 mm — Designed for wide or large faces

If you are between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size for a more comfortable fit. You can also visit our Los Angeles store to try them on for free.

3. Are your frames unisex?

Many of our frames feature unisex designs. Products designed specifically for women are clearly marked (e.g., "Women's Fashion Gradient Lens Sunglasses"). If a product does not specify a gender, it is considered a unisex style.

4. What materials are the frames made of?

Frame materials vary by product; specific details are listed in the "Specifications" section of each product page. Common materials include:

- Acetate — A durable, lightweight plastic with a premium feel (e.g., tortoiseshell frames)

- Metal — A slender, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant structure

- Polycarbonate — An impact-resistant plastic, suitable for sports or active lifestyles

All materials used comply with FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) regulations for eyewear.

5. Prescription Eyewear Orders

How do I submit my prescription? When placing an order for prescription eyewear, you will need to enter the following information provided by an eye care professional:

- Sphere (SPH) — Measures the degree of nearsightedness or farsightedness

- Cylinder (CYL) — Measures the degree of astigmatism correction

- Axis — The orientation of astigmatism correction (0–180°)

- Add Power — Additional magnification for reading (applicable to bifocal/progressive lenses)

- Pupillary Distance (PD) — The distance between the centers of your pupils

- Segment Height — A parameter required for progressive or bifocal lenses

You may also email your prescription, along with your order number, to info@mastersoptical.com. Please double-check all values carefully before submission. We are not responsible for orders resulting from incorrect prescription data.

6. Is a valid prescription required when ordering?

A valid prescription is required for all prescription eyewear orders. Non-prescription sunglasses and frame-only purchases do not require a prescription. If you do not have an up-to-date prescription, we recommend consulting an eye care professional for an examination before placing your order.

7. What types of lenses do you offer?

Depending on the specific product, we offer the following lenses:

- Single-vision lenses — for correcting distance vision or close-up reading

- Bifocal lenses — combining zones for distance and near vision

- Progressive lenses — providing a seamless transition between distance, intermediate, and near vision

- Blue light-blocking lenses — filtering out harmful blue light from screens

- Anti-scratch coating — enhancing lens durability

- Anti-reflective coating — reducing glare from screens and headlights

- UV protection — blocking 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays

Specific lens options are listed on the product page during the ordering process.

8. Can I still place an order if my prescription has expired?

We recommend using a prescription that is valid (typically within the last 1–2 years). Expired prescriptions may lead to discomfort or inaccurate vision correction; we are not responsible for any discomfort or vision issues resulting from the use of outdated prescription data. If you have questions about your prescription, we recommend verifying it with an eye care professional before placing an order.

9. Insurance and Payment

Do you accept vision insurance?

Yes, we accept most major vision insurance plans. You can provide your insurance details (insurance company name, member ID, group number) when placing your order, and we will verify your coverage before processing it. Coverage details vary by plan; if your insurance does not cover the full cost, you are responsible for paying the remaining balance.

10. Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Yes. Prescription eyewear is generally an eligible expense for most Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). If your HSA or FSA card supports the Visa or Mastercard network, you can use it at checkout. Please check with your plan administrator to confirm eligibility.

11. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept the following payment methods:

- Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Diners Club, Maestro

- HSA/FSA cards (Visa/Mastercard networks)

All transactions are processed in US Dollars (USD). Payment is charged in full at the time the order is submitted.

What should I do if the package shows "Delivered" but I haven't received it?

14. Can eyewear be returned?

Eyewear is considered a custom product and cannot be returned due to personal reasons (such as "change of mind"). However, you may request a full remake or refund in the following cases:

- Defective lenses

- Defective frames

We are not responsible for returns resulting from inaccurate prescriptions caused by incorrect vision data provided by you. Please double-check your prescription information before placing an order.

Yes. You may exchange your frames for a different style within 30 days of receipt. The price of the new frames must be equal to or higher than that of the original frames.
